A journal, web site and community that serves as a celebration of and a safe space for Black women. In 2015, Saafir launched a content preview on hannahmag.com and ran a successful Kickstarter campaign that funded the first print issue, released in November 2016. The Kickstarter campaign received press coverage around the globe.
Past editions have featured cover muses singer/songwriter Alice Smith, screenwriter/showrunner Issa Rae, and activist/MeToo founder Tarana Burke, respectively.
Charlie & His Imaginary Friend
A children’s book self-published by Saafir and her partner Popephoenix. The two started a publishing company in response to the lack of diversity in children’s books. They aim to color one book at a time.
The book was written by Saafir and illustrated by Popephoenix. The project was funded by a successful Kickstarter in 2012.
